Maren possesses a quiet dignity that draws the viewer in. Framed by a sculptural crimson collar that rises gently around her neck and a beautifully tied headscarf, she appears both protected and self-assured. Her calm, thoughtful expression suggests a soul that has found strength through gentleness, carrying life's experiences with grace rather than burden.

Hand-built in stoneware clay, Maren forms part of Sean Bishop's Collared Souls collection. The series explores identity through expressive portraiture and distinctive sculptural collars, where each collar becomes an extension of the personality it frames. Every piece is individually modelled by hand, ensuring no two Souls are ever alike.

Each sculpture is individually hand-built using stoneware clay, coloured with slips, and finished with a clear glaze that is carefully wiped back to preserve the tactile quality of the clay and the marks left by the making process. The result is a one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture that celebrates both individuality and craftsmanship.

Rather than portraying a specific person, Maren invites each viewer to form their own connection, discovering memories, emotions or stories reflected within her quiet gaze.
